Made some changes to the fight mechanic and introduced a new zombie type!
Thank you very much for liking the Zombie fight mechanic!
First off, the fight mechanic is one of the enjoyable things I have coded in my game, And I'm really happy that most if not all of you liked the fight mechanic!
I also read all of your feedback and suggestions, so below are some changes
- And for the first one, I will be changing the one thing most people find confusing... The Distance! Instead of Far, Near, and Close. It's now gonna be, Very Far, Long Range, Close Range, and Point Blank! That's right! instead of three, there are now four distance!
here's a visual representation:
- The decision to make the distances four instead of three is because three distances seems limiting, and the mutant zombies will always be harder to kill that way. with four distances, I can now add different zombies that has different attack types, Some only possible to defeat if you have someone with you to help. Also, while shooting, there's now a very low possibility of missing at the "Very Far" Range
- I'm also gonna add the Dodge action, It will help you dodge an incoming zombie attack for Point Blank range or Any range (If the zombie has any projectile attacks). While it's a bit of useless if your in a Point Blank range (Since you just dodge and not gain any distance from it) It will be very useful for special zombie attacks or if you have someone with you. like, If the zombie is targeting you, you can dodge, while the one accompanying you can melee the zombie. The melee attack will also deal high damage since it's considered a flanking attack.
- Markus will always be the first to act. there are actions such as gain distance which waits for the zombie to act. now, Markus will always always be first to act whatever the action will be (EXCEPT IN SOME RARE INSTANCES)
- Might add Parry for the future update
New zombie type: "Runner"

For the very first addition to the different zombie type, we have a runner. She's considered to be a mutant even if it's just a zombie that runs fast
Some Things to consider...
- Every time a mutant is present or near a location, a mutant alert will pop up
- Runners, unlike Normal Zombies, Have a low chance of ambushing you while you move. (So it's better if you hunt them first)
- Once ambushed, a dialogue will appear, after that, a Quick Time Event, If failed, YOU DIE, They don't just bite you, they eat you!
- They are very quick to lessen the distance during a fight
- It has a special ability, that can kill you in an instant: It runs
- It moves the zombie two spaces forward, then attacks if possible
- If the zombie is present in close range or long range, It will run at you and KILL YOU at the next turn unless you Dodge or Gain Distance
- If you Dodged, she will be at point blank range. At this point, you can melee her (Not advisable if you have a weak melee weapon). She cannot run since she's already at your face but she attacks twice (You're dead if you don't have any armor)
- If you Gain Distance, She will end up at Close Range at the next turn. At this point, she's still considered running. If you shoot her at this point, she will take damage and trip. The Next Turn will be her getting up, so it's considered a free turn for you
- I also decided that mutants will be deadly, and have a high possibility of killing you instead of just lowering your hp to make fights more interesting. (I will also add a difficulty setting for those who find it challenging)
And if you still have suggestion, feedback, or any violent reactions for changes and the runners (or the mutants deadliness in general), Just comment them below, I would love to hear your thoughts on it!
